LESLIE SAALBURG(07/04/1897 --- 04/08/1973)
Leslie Saalburg is a widely recognized commercial illustrator. The varying fashion blogs and sites on the internet would rank him second to Laurence Fellows.
It was thought that Mr. Saalburg was strictly European, having been born in England, though the source below confirms that he was born to American parents while in England. (1) Furthermore, an obituary column from the The New York Times, dated on April 10, 1973 reveals that Saalburg passed away at his residence in Paris, France. (2) Saalburg's technique is somewhat similar to that of Robert Goodman's in that their illustrations can be mistaken for the other. In most of his illustrations, Saalburg signs his works with his first and last name always in cursive script. |
