ROBERT GOODMAN / RG(07/05/1911 --- 01/1948)
Robert Samuel Goodman was born in Brooklyn, New York to Abe and Rose Goodman and resided on the corner of 88th Street and Madison Avenue. He attended Parsons School of Fashion, Art, and Design to study illustration and design, and served as Director of Esquire Magazine from 1945 until his death in the year of 1948 at the age of 37 from walking pneumonia.
For leisure and other cultural pursuits, Mr. Goodman operated a penthouse studio that was formerly across the street from Saks Fifth Avenue and was a regular at the popular Stork Club. Mr. Goodman signs his artwork as "Robert Goodman" with cursive or print handwriting most of the time. On some occasions he would use "Bob Goodman" or "R.G." as well. |
