Oxner(1888 --- 194?)
As with Hurd, I located a Richard Oxner who resided in the New York City area circa 1930's which coincides with the time the illustrator commissioned his works to Esquire/Apparel Arts, which the assumption that his last name is Oxner.
His art signature at times may be notated with written accents by the "O" and "r" of the name, and sometimes not. At times Oxner's illustrations have a tendency to be confused with and shows similarities to the technique of Hurd. Both Oxner and Hurd put emphases on facial features like the cheeks or eyes, but differences can be find upon a closer examination. |
